Streamlining Municipal Procurement: Webinar Recording Now Available

The Canoe Procurement Group of Canada recently hosted the final episode of the spring procurement webinar series called “Streamlining Municipal Procurement”. The webinar was designed for municipal staff involved in procurement seeking enhanced compliance, efficiency, and innovation in your processes. The recording and presentation slides for the webinar are now available to view. We express our gratitude to everyone who attended the webinar.

During the webinar, RMA legal counsel, William Peachman, and Canoe procurement manager, Stéphanie Dion, shared the importance of having a robust procurement policy, especially in smaller teams where procurement may be a secondary responsibility. A well-structured policy, accompanied with regular training, not only helps organizations meet regulatory requirements but also promotes compliance, efficiency, and ethical practices.

Other key topics discussed in the webinar delineating procurement authority and responsibilities to prevent fraud, adhering to trade agreements, and ensuring non-discriminatory practices. Practical tips included insights from surveys and real-world examples, highlighting common pitfalls and the importance of understanding the why behind procurement policies and regulations.
